How to use Friendorb

If you’ve just discovered Friendorb, you may not know that we’re geared towards helping bloggers and businesses get their ventures off the ground. For many of them, the hardest part is getting the word out about their product or service. Advertising, such as through paid ads, would be a great way to get noticed - if it weren’t for the prohibitive costs.

To that end, we came up with the idea of an advertising mechanism that plays into today’s social web. Instead of buying an ad, share an ad with other bloggers and entrepreneurs in the same situation as you! This helps spread brand awareness in a mutually beneficial way.

How to get started: First, upload your ad on the main Ad Exchange page. There’s no need to register; your ad will be linked to the email address you provide. We’ve set some general guidelines that ads must adhere to, and to make sure all the ads on the exchange are appropriate, we approve each one, usually within 24 hours.

From there, place the widget code on your site or blog where you want other participants’ ads to show. The maximum ad size at this time is 250px by 250px, so be sure you have enough room where you place the code. You have two choices: the basic Ad Exchange, which displays a random ad each time the page loads, or the Ad Market, where you can select or “adopt” a specific ad to be displayed every time. Once you upload your ad, it is automatically available for others to adopt in the market. Both options are free, and you can switch between the two at any time.

Next, check out the Ad Dashboard to view your ad’s statistics, including the number of views and clicks. To get the most out of the Ad Exchange, you’ll want to submit engaging ads that include a high-quality image and target website. These will increase your click-through rate and enhance the benefit you get out of your participation. Your ads will show around our network more frequently based on how well they perform as well as how many ads you serve on your own site. Don’t just upload your ad and hope someone will find it; if you don’t place the code on your site and start serving ads, your own ad will never show. Likewise, we retire less popular ads monthly in order to keep the rotation fresh, but feel free to submit another ad when yours expires (you’ll receive an email at that time).

Our rapidly-expanding participant base means there’s a growing segment of the web eager to hear about your blog, product, or service. We hope you’ll check back often to try out the many upcoming features we have planned, and we wish you the best of luck in making your venture a success!
